BOING, BOING, BOING! Having Multiple WIPs on the Go

Bounce! I’m ready for Editing to look at The Stealth Lovers!

Bounce! Now I really want to take a break from the ‘Cosm series and focus on Iris and The Crew Tear Space a New One.

Bounce! But I have Life in the ’Cosm and The Stealth Lovers fresh in my brain! And I’m half-way through the first draft of Life in Another ’Cosm. Maybe I should work on that story.

Bounce! But Iris and the Crew are gonna tear space a new one!

Bounce! But Noola is gonna kick some ableist arse in Another ’Cosm!

Bounce! But . . .

Bounce! But . . .

Isn’t this super fun???

It’s at times like these I wish I had two heads like the Dwa in my ’Cosm books, so I could work on different manuscripts simultaneously. But being a boring ol’ human with only one head and brain, it looks like I’ll need to figure out another way.

Truly, though, this is a nice problem to have. It means I’m bursting with creativity. I just have to take a step back and figure out how I can do the things while managing mental and physical spoons. So far I keep changing my mind over whether to finish Life in Another ’Cosm or continue writing Iris and the Crew. I’d posted recently that Iris and the Crew would be my NaNoWriMo ’18 project. But now I really think I could use that time to finish drafting Another ’Cosm.

Place yer bets, place yer bets! (Only joking.)

Adding to this mix is a really awesome editing collaboration I’ll be launching with my best friend this fall. (We hope to announce what it is by the end of September.) Oh yeah, I and still have my day-job of being a freelance editor. A lot of word things are afoot.

So, yeah, my mind is going BOING for this project and BOING for that one. It’ll be interesting to see what I decide in the end for my own writing.

At least The Stealth Lovers is done with principle writing and self-editing. If accepted by Renaissance, it’ll be in the editors’ capable hands. I’ll fall down with relief at that stage. I’ve reached the point where I cannot focus on the words anymore. I need other humans to edit it now.

What might help in my decision making is chatting with other writers at Can-Con 2018 this October. It’s nice to have in-person discussions about our authory adventures. I love how many of us are in exactly the same boat. There are a ton of us in that boat, really.

Looks like we’re gonna need a bigger boat…

(Just watched Jaws again.)

Anyway, as always, I’ll keep you posted as to what I’m working on!

Gee. Life in the ’Cosm was only supposed to be a fun writing exercise for my eyes only. Now I’m thinking about how and when to complete my other books. That’s kind of amazing.

It’s nice to bask in the amazing for just a moment.

You know, before we return to the suffocating self-doubt and all. 😉

Cait GordonCait Gordon is the author of Life in the ’Cosm, a story about a little green guy who’s on a quest to save half the person he loves. Cait has recently submitted the prequel to ’Cosm called The Stealth Lovers, a military space opera about legendary warriors Xaxall Knightly and Vivoxx Tirowen. When she’s not writing, she’s editing manuscripts for indie authors and running The Spoonie Authors Network, a blog whose contributors manage disabilities and/or chronic conditions. She also really likes cake.
