It’s almost mid-January and I haven’t posted yet!

So, here’s my post. How’d ya like it so far?

Life has been a whirlwind lately with extra bits of whoosh. I’ve barely had time to think. Yet, after only 12 days into 2019, I’ve already learned a lesson: I super-really, absolutely, and totally have to pace myself.

This applies to all the things in my life. I got in my own way for a second there, but thankfully, I’ve come back to my senses. It’s so important for me to keep a “slow and steady wins the race” rhythm, or else my mental and physical health start screaming at me. They did, actually. Like banshees. But I’m listening. Message received loud and clear.

I really want this to be a fantastic year, and it really could be, if I stay smart. It’s also time to relax my brain by adding in some writing. It’s such a stress reliever. Writing is part of the “me time” I require lately. Editing is a joy, don’t get me wrong, but it’s something I do for others. Writing is my own indulgence, and I need do it some more. I have a cluster of teenage aliens in their ‘cosm giving me the stink eye. Their story must be told.

This is the year I celebrate my mid-century mark on this planet. If I’m going into my cronage, I must kickstart it by being wiser. Sometimes hard choices are necessary for the long-term benefit they offer. I’ve often heard that when people are quite a bit older, they wish they spent their life reflecting more. I want to take that advice and reflect on my life decisions. Whenever I’ve done that, allowed myself a good long moment to ponder, things went well for me. Rushing into the swimming pool without checking if there’s water first, has often led to, well, SPLAT! I don’t wanna go splat.

I also am really looking forward to seeing Nothing Without Us happen. We Spoonie types tend to do advocacy in the ways our spoons allow. I can word good. I appreciate others who word good. So, being a coeditor for an anthology where we elevate voices who can word good gives me a strong case of the happies. It’s really exciting so far, folks. I cannot wait until its published so you can read the stories that feature protagonists who are disabled, Deaf, neurodiverse, and/or who manage mental illness. Main characters! No inspiration porn! This is the most important project of my career so far. The best part of it is reading the stories and being aware of all the amazing authors in my community. I can now recommend many authors to people who are looking for good representation. So stoked!

Now that my anxiety levels are not as Alert Status Red like in 2017, I want to try some new adventures. Stay tuned, because I’m not exactly sure what they are yet, but you know I’ll be posting about them when they arrive! 🙂

So, happy new year to all of those who follow my blog. Thanks for visiting my microcosm! I wish you amazingness.

This concludes my very first post of the 2019. I think it went well.
